First look: New Briggs & Riley Transcend

When people find out you work for a luggage store their first question usually is, what is your favorite brand of luggage? So what is different in these new models? In one word; EVERYTHING. Traditionally, the Transcend series was a simple, no frills case for a casual traveler. Now this series has moved upscale. The most obvious change for this new model are new colors (rainforest, merlot, and slate) and a squared off shape. This gives their cases a more modern and luxurious look. This theme is continued inside with an upgraded tan interior that replaces the utilitarian gray color.

However, the biggest change is the redesigned expansion system. Briggs & Riley has gotten rid of the zippered expansion system and replaced it with their new VX variable expansion system. This system uses Velcro to allow the consumer to adjust the expansion to fit their items, rather than a zipper system which is either open or closed. No other luggage manufacturer has a system like this; it is truly one of a kind.

Another unique feature that Briggs & Riley offers is matching accessories. Most brands offer maybe a tote and a wheeled tote. However, Briggs has expanded their Transcend accessories to include wheeled totes, a shopping tote, toiletry kits, and new for 2017 a cabin bag and backpacks. All these accessories are available in all three colors and easily fit over the handle of all of their bags. These are must-have items when purchasing your new Briggs.

Irv’s Luggage joins with Briggs & Riley for a trade in event to benefit local charities.

Mount Prospect, IL – FEBRUARY 11, 2016 … Irv’s Luggage joins Briggs & Riley’s national charity initiative “A Case for Giving,” taking place in both of our locations at 2200 S. Busse Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL and 3139 Dundee Rd., Northbrook, IL from February 11– February 29, 2016, benefiting two local charities, Journeys, The Road Home and DCFS of Illinois, as part of a nationwide cooperative effort.Briggs & Riley’s “A Case for Giving” works in cooperation with more than 250 retail partners to get your gently used rolling bag to someone in immediate need in local communities around the country.  “A Case for Giving” salutes more than 100 charity partners of Briggs & Riley’s retailers including Ronald McDonald House, Treehouse for Kids, Make A Wish, Goodwill and local women’s shelters, men’s homes and coalitions for the homeless.  Briggs & Riley is known for innovation, dependable durability, and service that have earned them a fanatical and loyal customer base of frequent travelers who demand bags that perform.

Briggs & Riley – Always Looking Out for their Customers, Including Michelle Obama

Briggs & Riley will soon be coming out with their new Transcend Collection in August.  While the new Transcend bags will have a slightly different style, a new monochromatic look, new edging and trim; the same popular colors will remain (deep red, tan and gray) which effectively hide dirt, stain and scuff marks and allow past customers to continue to add to their current “lifetime guarantee” bags without worrying about non-coordinating sets.  The best part about the new Transcend line……the pricing will remain the same!!!

Briggs & Riley Luggage is continually trying to improve their bags.  They love to hear from their customers and respond by producing more intelligent bags.  When their customers wanted stronger lighter bags, Briggs & Riley responded by using a high density frame that is extremely durable yet lightweight. Briggs customers were unhappy with the handles existence in the main compartment (the design of most bags on the market) Briggs responded with their exclusive outside handle system.

In addition, with all the security measures at airports, Briggs & Riley decided all their business cases need to be checkpoint friendly, speed thru bags.  So all older non-checkpoint friendly @Work bags are discontinued and on closeout, to make room for the new 2010 checkpoint friendly bags.
